I was having trouble finding a compatible driver for my Asus A8N-VM CSM (AMD socket 939) motherboard integrated sound that uses the AD1986A CODEC. I wanted to know if someone knows of a specific driver compatible with Evaluation copy. 7100 build of Windows 7 x64 for the onboard sound card ADI AD1986A SoundMAX?
Asus seems to indicate that this mobo is not supported in Windows Vista or 7 according to its OS Compatibility page. I found a page 'Where can I find Windows Vista driver for my motherboard?' by searching in the 'A8N-VM CSM Newest FAQ' This Vista support page seems to include a driver package specific to the AD1986A for Vista 64 that works with Windows 7: http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/Driver/Audio/ADI/AudioAD1986A610x6100_Vista.zip. I have yet to try it but they have a slightly different version that only supports basic stereo with no jack sensing or SPDIF output/bypass option (at least the driver itself - I was unable to find the install of the application compatible with Win 7 x64).
